I don't think the media is doing that... I think it's the fashion industry trying to do that. Women have enough pressure from jerks who think they should be one way or another to please themselves. It's pretty sad when you think about it. You look out there and see fat bottoms and they look back at you and see a walking dick. So, everyone is going to have their own perception of beauty, but in reality it truely is in the eye of the beholder.
