The degree -- I work in Human Services and can tell you that those who have experience in a particular field are ONLY considered if they have a degree. The combination of a degree AND experience is the best.
Sometimes you can work your way up in a job, but not that much anymore. Nowadays because so many people go to college, it is almost a requirement beyond high school.
In our human services field, we require a degree first. And even if the person hasn't had precise experience, the degree will get them in the door, and if we like them and feel we can train them, then they are hired.
The degree is, basically, the key that unlocks the door to your future. If you are fortunate enough to be in, or go to, college, then do it.
And even if you feel you have the same intelligence, or the same experience as someone else, when it comes down to choosing an individual for a job, the person with the degree almost always wins -- it is the leverage that makes the difference. It can be frustrating to know that you have the smarts and the experience and then see someone else NOT as smart, or as experienced, get the job you wanted. It is a reality in this society.
Get the degree -- once you have it, you will always have it. Good luck!

Well most often I would say the degree, but it can be different depending on who the people are doing the interview process.
I worked for 3 years as a shipping manager for a large company doing alot of federal regulation things for my company. I recently applied for a new job that is pretty much the same thing, and they wanted the new person to have a 4 year degree. I applied anyway and was told that even though I have the experience, the VP of shipping of the company wanted someone with a 4 year degree. They stood by the requirements and dindn't give me the job.

I say experience. Companies want employees who know what they are doing. Just because you have a degree does not mean anything if you don't have experience. I'm not saying that you don't need or should not get a degree, but I'd choose a person without a degree who has experience over a person with no experience with a degree.

I have an Associates Degree in Computer Science but not a Bachelors Degree. I got my job where I work, as a contractor, by my brothers who were employed by the company, hearing about the job and giving me the information on who to contact.
I have worked in the industry for over 10 years now.
I have been working for about 3 years here. My lead keeps probing my manager trying to get me hired FULL TIME. The manager says that he could have hired me full time long ago if I just had a Bachelor's Degree. He says a lot of firms won't hire someone full time without it.
So, in short, a combination of a bachelor's degree and work experience is best but without the degree it's hard to get hired on full time.

I think they are both equally important. Employers look for both. It is very important to have experience doing a particular job, but if you have a degree in the field, that is great also.

I believe having the experience would be best. You can't beat hands on. People can get a degree but that is just from books. Who can't read and answer questions? Hands on you already have learned what you need to know.

regrettably, the degree counts as a lot because the adventure, highly if the interest something that a good number of people are going to adhere to for. The degree is used for weeding people out to create a shortlist, then they'll look at your artwork adventure.

When you look for a new job, everyone will want to see the degree first. It's just the way it is.

Having a degree, one may find it easier to get the job they think they want.
I love the experience I have, wouldn't trade it for a degree.
