Okay, last time I asked what your favourite Eurythmics song was. (Incidentally, The Loneliest Man In The World, whilst one of the best songs Annie Lennox has sung, was by The Tourists, so doesn't count).
This time I'm wondering what your favourite Depeche Mode song is. Again, strictly the band and none of Dave Gahan or Martin Gore's solo stuff. And if you want to name an album track, feel free. They're Depeche Mode songs too and we don't want them feeling left out.
Incidentally, my favourites are Enjoy The Silence (predictably), Halo & The Landscape Is Changing... ooh and Oberkorn...It's A Small Town, but that's a random instrumental b-side.
PS - fav. Eurythmics songs happen to be Julia & Shame, two largely ignored but gorgeous singles.

I would have to say my favourite Depeche Mode songs were Blasphemous Rumours,My Secret Garden and People are people. I have what I think is a rare Live recording from the Hammersmith Odeon 25th October 1982 and the version of Secret Garden is absolutely fabulous, love the synthesizer work and that Simmons drum beat, bloody brilliant!

either personal jesus or everything counts as it sums up the greed and bullsh*t thats everywhere now , and the song was written about 20 years ago ,i think its more fitting now than ever

The handshake
Seals the contract
From the contract
Theres no turning back
The turning point
Of a career
In korea, being insincere
The holiday
Was fun packed
The contract
Still intact
The grabbing hands
Grab all they can
All for themselves
After all
Its a competitive world
Everything counts in large amounts
The graph
On the wall
Tells the story
Of it all
Picture it now
See just how
The lies and deceit
Gained a little more power
Confidence
Taken in
By a sun tan
And a grin
The grabbing hands
Grab all they can
All for themselves
After all

See you
was my favourite from the early years
because it reminded me of my best friend Becky who I`d know for 5 yrs when it came out.

"and I know 5 years is a long time but times change"

a little more grown up than the popy earlier stuff

Blasphamous rumours was a great track too...
