In some banks some cashiers are ***** and want to give you the ID crap and the thumb print. Next time ask the person making you a check to use your name as it appears on your ID to avoid problems. Or just send it to me and I will mail you the cash back. It also dependes in the amount!

It's as good as cash at banks. You may not need to present any ID. Just show it to the teller and get the cash. The teller, however, can ask for an ID if she/he wishes and in that case you'll have to show it. If there isn't enough fund in the check writer's account, that's his/her problem. Stores may refuse though.

It works the same as if the check were made out to you. You have 2 choices:

1. Take it to your bank, sign the back and write your account number on it.

2. Take it to the bank that the check is drawn from, sign the back, and they will take your driver's license number down.

if it is from YOUR checking account...you can actually put your name on the payable to line and then sign the check on the back
most banks would rather you do it that way

if its already wrote out in cash, and its from YOUR account you shouldn't need any documents, but if its from another account then you might need the license of the person who signed the check

Just take it to your bank like normal or even a grocery store will usually do it. Normally, you will just need a drivers license or government issued ID.

Give it back to the person to whom it belongs and ask them to write you another one with your name.
