Thomas Jefferson's chief reaskon for purchasing Louisiana was to:

A- challenge Hamilton's loose interpretation of the Constitution

B- challenge Napoleon's bid for world empire

C- give the United States control of the Mississippi River

D- provide a rationale for the Lewis and Clark expedition

E- strengthen the Republicans party in the trans-Mississippi West

I'm thinking C is correct, but I'm also a little concerned it could be E. It definitely isn't A, B, or D though

Let's look at the answers and explain why they're wrong

A - wrong. If Congress and the White House agree to purchase land, there is nothing in the Constitution to stop them.
B - wrong. Napoleon was the one selling the land to them.
C- correct. By controlling the Mississippi, we could also control the Gulf of Mexico and the Great Lakes.
D- wrong. He commissioned Lewis and Clark after the purchase, not before.
E - wrong. Even by gaining more land for America, that wasn't any guarantee all the people living there would be Republican. And anyway, I don't even think the Republican party was technically a party at all back then.

C

The President wanted to protect the interests of farmers in the Ohio River Valley, who depended on access to New Orleans. They sent their crops down the Mississippi River to New Orleans, from which ships took the products to cities along the Atlantic coast of the United States. I got this for u in internet.

the respond is D once you have a trinomial like this, and the integer is being added (i.e. a + sign), it won't be able to be factored completely. specific, that's factored, yet those solutions are messy, and seem to above what you're working in the direction of at this element in time.
