Helping abused kids is a very noble profession - and it's great that you want to go into that field. There is nothing better than helping to protect a kid.
Most child protective services jobs require at least a 2 year college degree and the social workers jobs require at least bachelors degree (and they will expect you to enroll in a masters degree program and complete it within at least 5 years of hire)
Good luck

I dont think you are fascinated by it. I think you have a great passion to stop the abuse. That is great. Is a call that tears your heart out but at the same time the feeling you get when you help just one child is far greater than the fear you see with abuse. It takes a great person to want to make a difference. Stand proud about that. Study all you can even after graduation. Good luck to you.

Your fascination with abuse is perhaps unusual, but it is unhealthy to be fascinated with something so negative and in turn want to go into Children's Services. If abuse were revolting and cruel to you, would it be advisable to chose such a career.

So long as your interest is just that of learning of different forms of abuse some people suffer there is nothing wrong in that. If in the future your goal is to work with victims of abuse/violence then it is probably a good thing actually. Great career choice and I wish you luck in this endeavor.

No, you're not wrong at all for having a fascination with abuse. It's what you do with your fascination...if you are using it to educate yourself, and to help people then that's great.

it depends. if you are fascinated with receiving abuse, then you may need to seek some help. however, if you are interested in helping others who have gone through abuse, that is okay. i am sure there are plenty of people who would appreciate some help during times of abuse

I wanted to be a psychologist when I got out of high school. Wanted to do it at a "kids" level, but then after having kids of my own I didn't want too anymore. The idea of people hurting innocent kids, and of hearing all about their pain and stories was to much for me. I would be crying I'm sure the whole time...
I hope you do a great job!

depends on your motive. "Fascinated" sounds like you're taking pleasure out of it. Horrified and disgusted and wanting to help stop it sounds like a normal reaction.
