Firstly the last major pandemic was in 1918 not 1928 and was exacerbated by a lack of medical facilities which had been depleted by WW1. For instance penicilin was at 10% of the required amount world-wide and only really available to the military and government hospitals. The projected possible outbreak that may spread from the far east will hit those who do not have adequate primary medical care such as in developing countries and large urban populations. In the west we will be luckier as governments are now stockpiling Tamiflu anti-virus vaccines and non-licenced versions are to be allowed. Simple precautions and a good healthy lifestyle will help. I think the media have vastly over-hyped the story with a little help from some unscrupulous drug company executives! trans-mutagenic Bird flu has been prevailant for centuries and has had the chance to mutate jump ship to mammals for as long and were still here!

I was really worried when I started hearing about it. I even did a whole spreadsheet that showed what foods to buy and food to store, etc. It was a pretty impressive list I had going. But I haven't heard much about it lately so I've kind of forgotten about it. I still check in on the Center for Disease Control to get updates.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who obsesses over these things :) Everyone else I know barely knows anything about Bird Flu. :)

Basically the World Health Organisation is guessing they are going on statics that according to the ones they have flu comes round every ? but don't forget you can twist statistics any way you want i.e. 100% were asked if they wanted to live till they die 49 say yes and 50 said no and 1 didn't know therefore almost 50% said yes or was it 50% said no this was just a made up example

Not worried in the slightest. The only people who should be worried at all are those who work with large populations of birds and even then they have a very slim chance of catching it. You say lots of people died in the early 1900s - but did we even have antibiotics then?
Get on with your life and stop worrying about things that won't ever happen.

Stop worrying so much. You're more likely to get hit by a car then die by the Bird Flu.

It's just a manipulation of the masses, don't worry about catching it, just worry about the birds that may get culled because of fear manipulation to take our minds off other things going on in the world scene.

no, all the victims have worked in close proximety to infected birds, for it to be a serious threat it would need to mutate into a human flu virus

human beings say it’s very probably it's going to be a mass epidemic. nicely, on the 2nd it motives extremely economic damages. I stay in Hungary, Europe and basically some circumstances have been stumbled on, yet many farmers and factories processing poultry went bankrupt basically with the aid of fact the information.

I am a little worried, but also think the plans have been made and vaccines are being worked on, so no cause to panic.
