The 21st is only a week away. Then you're off probhation though honestly, he cannot termintae you unless you have worked poorly or you aren't doing your job. It's against the law for an employer to fire any emplyee that has come to them saying that they are pregnant. You just keep doing your job as best you can, try to not schedule many doctor's appointments when you're working and don't let it effect what your job is. He is legally obligated to keep you as an employee unless there is something seriously wrong with what you're doing.

It depends. If you are under protection by FMLA (Family Medical Leave of Absence), then no, they cannot terminate you for being pregnant. However, check with your employer to see if this is one of your benefits, most HR people are very easy to work with.
Additionally, I do need to warn you, while they may not directly fire you for being pregnant, several employers can skirt the law and find different reasons for termination of your position.
If you live in an "at-will" state, it would be a lot easier to remove the employment, as employment is "at-will" (hence the name) between both the employer and employee and can be terminated for any reason at any time.
Finally! If you do get let go, don't sweat it. You don't need to work for a group that doesn't understand that something as natural as child birth is going to occur. You can find a much better employer if this siuation arises.
The best thing would be to address the issue with your boss honestly and directly, although I can understand the fear of doing so while still being in your probation.
Best wishes to both you and your baby, and congratulations!
Don't let this worry you too much, just enjoy preparing to be a new Mommy!
Good luck!!!! :)

If I'm correct, your boss can not fire you just because you are pregnant. That is discriminatory. If he said it was okay, then I would take it as that. Most likely the company didn't let people know that the position was filled and that is why people are still calling. Sometimes it takes a while for some companies to get things together. Hang in there.

If you're still in your probation period there's not much you can do. I know in Canada, in the first three months, the employer doesn't even need a reason to let you go because it's your probationary period. You could go to your boss and ask about it, or just wait and see. My advice for next time is to make sure your probation is up before you say anything.

If u get laid off or fired because of being pregnant, that is against the law depending on where you live, some states can fire you or lay you off without reason and thats that. I would express my concerns to me boss if I were you, becuase you need your job now more than ever, and you need to know what he plans to do about the situation.

It's possible you could be terminated, but as a pregnant woman, you have certain rights. You should have an honest discussion with your boss. Let him know your intentions such as working as long as you can before giving birth, when you plan to return. Visit your human resources department and read up on your company's policy for maternity leave. Your job should be based on your performance, not whether or not you're pregnant. Your boss may be looking for a receptionist to fill your position while you're out on maternity leave. I would talk to your boss about possibilities.

Legally, from what I know, you cannot be terminated because of pregnancy. You cannot be denied a job because you are pregnant either. That's not to say that everyone is really that ethical either.
If you do nothing at all on your probation period to warrant losing your position, and you are still fired/let go, consider maybe seeking legal counsel.

That's a tough one. It's illegal to discriminate based on pregnancy status, but if you're in a probationary period and you live in an at-will state, you can be terminated for any (legal) reason. If your boss gives another reason for firing you and does so it's going to be tough to prove discrimination.
I would contact a labor attorney for advice if you do end up fired.

Well they may need to fill your position while you are gone.
But in most cases state law forbids you from being terminated for being pregnant. Call your states labor board to find out all you can, document anything that your boss does, and if it comes to it you can fight.

This will depend entirely on your boss in all honestly. Legally he can't do it, but he can say you didn't do a good job. I'd do the absolute best job possible, and talk to them about you seriously wanting to continue to work there. Be honest with him, maybe he will be with you and respect you for it.
