my 67 year old grandmother wants me to teach her how to work the windows computer my grandfather uses for work, because she figures that if we have so much fun with it, so can she.

what should i do? i love the woman to death, but (a) there's sort of a language barrier, and (b) i'm not sure what she'd want to do with it.

any creative ideas on what programs to get or where to start??

1. Email. She will love the fact that she can keep in touch with grandkids, family, and friends much more easily and frequently.

2. Digital photo basics. She really should take a class on this, but you can at least introduce her to the fact that she can store and restore photos on the computer.

3. Family History, some websites for more info on this are:

I actually have a client that LOVES (and does nothing else) to play games on it. Same thing with my mom. Set her up on MSN/Yahoo free games. I'll bet she likes Bridge! The other thing I set my mom up with that she loves is a recipe program. SHe does a little eail and has her own bridge games she got at the store. She also loves solitaire. She likes pictures too (grandkids prefererd).

Language barrier? she doesn't speak english?

She wants to find interesting sites on the internet, chat with her friends, write letters, photos, etc. All the same stuff you do, but different sites that interest her. Ask her.

I am sure you can find if you know what you are doing, sites she can listen to her favorite music, sites involved with her hobbies, etc.

The best think to do is ask her what she would like to do.

Does she have any friends with a PC. Show here how to e-mail and chat.

She might like the card games that come with windows
