I think the Mets will give him through 2007 to blossom. He should be ready to take over for Cliff Floyd in left and/or spell Shawn Green in right field. The Mets have a history of being impatient with young talent (Amos Otis, Ken Singleton, Nolan Ryan, etc) and hopefully Lastings can grow into the 5-tool player that the Mets front office thinks he can be.

He's an exciting player, ala Jose Reyes, and looks like a good fit on next year's team. But pitching is that rare commodity that some general managers will trade even their best prospect for. I think all depends on what pitcher(s) you would trade him for - Dontrelle Willis maybe!?!?!

Milledge is a guy with a super attitude issue and could very in all probability be a issue for the Nationals in some unspecified time interior the destiny in time. Mets, by potential of far, have been given the extra useful end of the deal for my area.

The Mets need Pitching with Pedro leaning to retirement. They may be able to trade him for a decent pitcher or reliever.

No. Very cheap alternative and good production for the next five seasons.
