I mostly ride on the weekends, taking day trips. I want to get a nice pair of boots, but i've never had a pair. I ride a Honda Hawk, should it matter! Any suggestions?

Harley Davidson makes comfortable boots. I wear them for daily wear as well.

The best way to find the right riding boot is really to go down to your local motorcycle accessory shop and trying them on. The best boot will be the one that will give you the most coverage for your foot/ankle/lower leg, while remaining comfortable and breathable but at the same time fit fairly snug to your foot and lower leg (particularly around the ankle). Do all you can to avoid the sneaker type shoes as they give you zero ankle protection.

If you think you'll ever go dirt riding you can look for a dual purpose boot such as an alpine star mx style boot. If not you can stay to a normal any normal street boot.

Something you might also consider is getting a normal comfort fit shoe insert and grab a slightly over-sized boot which will help reduce vibrations that love to seep up on motorcycles.

On a final note: If you plan on walking with these boots as well then I would suggest keeping a boot that gives you full ankle protection but does not go much higher as they can be a pain to walk around in.

No what you ride don't matter. I personally like HD boots, the ride well and feel great & thats the only boots I wear. A pair will cost your some bucks 100.00 or so depending on what you get. But I can wear a pair for two or more years. But any boots that fits well and have souls that are good for tractions are fine. My girlfriends wear boots from K-Marts she really likes them. So just find the ones that are right for you...And Ride

Just about any boot that you would go hiking in, provided they come over the ankle. Think about what you are protecting, and cover it. The sole/heel should be such that your foot will not slip off the peg. Personally, I would not recommend Harley Davidson boots. They are made in China, and the quality reflects it. I ride an HD and I wear my regular made in USA workboots. They take me everywhere I don't ride.

I have a pair of Alpine Stars. I like them and are very comfortable to wear before and after a ride. I even forget that I have them on.

The style is entirely up to you but deciding on what protective qualities you want is probably more important. Check out this site for good motorcycle boot info:

I like SIDI boots...Look in the crusier section. Also, Alpine Star and Icon make fairly decent boots. I ride w/ SIDI myself.
