I know lots will disagree but I can't see the sense in much of what's out there. It's sad that so many get rich by contributing nothing but sorrow to the world.

For the artists that are responsible, sorry to throw you under the bus. Generally this medium is exploiting kids that can't yet--and sadly probably never will be--think for themselves.

It's pretty terrible when people think certain things or make general assumptions about one genre because of a few negatives instead of looking at some of the positves and review it as a whole.

I think any particular genre of music (Rap, Metal, Pop, etc.) can have good AND bad effects on teens or even people in general. How you react and comprehend music is based on how you were raised and since we all are a product of out enviornment......Rap can be good to certain people.

NO, What's the point in rap music, there's no theme, no story behind it,wheather the story be real or made up. It makes me sick that kids would rather hear music with so much filthy language. Wheather it be rock,rap. My brother used to listen to rock, this one sone had a line that went g-- da--, g-- bless you ma'am". Kids listen to music like rap & rock, then go to school and sing or say those lines there and get in trouble.It's bad enough they hear stuff like that at home, either from parents,neighbors,friends,tv & radio. This kind of music is proberly what leads them & thier friends to drugs.

No it doesn't if they allow themselves to fill that image. Most rappers themselves admit to telling the street story, but they may or may not live it. Which is cool to me. I listen to rap music for the way they can tell a story centered around a beat, not beacuse they "keep it real". If you just go for that alone, then you will get sucked up into it, because that lifestyle sells not the artist themselves.

i would say it depends on the mind set of the teen,while i was in my early teens it didn't really have a good affect,but as i got older there were a few rap songs that got me through hard times...i think any type of music is powerful and rap isn't the only genre glorifying violence,as a parent i feel we should screen anything our children listen to...
