Do you know that there are not enough foster homes around the world for the amount of kids that are in care and that some have to be sent to different cities than their soblings do to the shortage of homes available.

Using the analogy of a lifeboat, expert Carol Emig says, "The foster-care system is leaking. The first job is to get kids into that lifeboat if the family ship is sinking. But that's only half the job, because we've got a lot of kids crowding into too few lifeboats," says the executive director of the Pew Commission on Children in Foster Care in Washington, D.C.

Why did you wait until the last minute? lol, any way, do something about a little known fact. Maybe something about kids sending letters to people in Iraq.

Did you know that children all across the united States of America send letters to the troops in Iraq every day? All grades do it and sometimes even get letters back. The troops really appreciate it and are extremely greatful.

You might even get extra credit for giving your teacher an idea and your class might write letters to them too!!

Did you know that the highest mountain in the world is Mount Everest?

Everest, Mount, mountain peak in the Himalayas of southern Asia, considered the highest mountain in the world. Mount Everest is situated at the edge of the Tibetan Plateau (Qing Zang Gaoyuan), on the border between Nepal and Tibet. The mountain was named for Sir George Everest, a British military engineer who served as surveyor general of India from 1829 to 1843, during which time the peak was surveyed. Everest was the first person to record the location and height of the mountain, then known as Peak XV. Most Nepali people refer to the mountain as Sagarmatha, meaning "Forehead in the Sky." Speakers of Tibetan languages, including the Sherpa people of northern Nepal, refer to the mountain as Chomolungma, Tibetan for "Goddess Mother of the World." In 1954, after various figures had been rejected, the height of Mount Everest was determined as 8848 m (29,028 ft). The mountain's actual height, and the claim that Everest is the highest mountain in the world, have been disputed. But additional surveys completed in the early 1990s continued to support evidence that Everest is the highest mountain in the world. In fact, the mountain is rising a few millimeters each year due to geological forces. Global Positioning Technology (GPS) has been installed on Mount Everest for the purpose of detecting slight rates of geological uplift.

talk about elephants. I love elephants.

Elephants have memory, they celebrate familiy reunions like human, they mourn over the dead like us, especially if the baby elephant dies, they are humble and tolerant. But once they lose their temper they can outrun humans and kill.
