3*5-3+2+8*2-6/4^2=6 use parenthesis? Well, I guess they want you to make sure you're doing the operations in the right order.

3*(5-3) + 2 + 8*[2-(6/4)^2] Is the answer. I'm assuming that the fraction is being squared, not just the '4' in the fraction. Here's the "proof", I'm taking several steps to arrive at the final equation:

3 * 2 + 2 + 8* (2 - 36/16) < 6 over 4 squared is 36 over 16

3 * 2 + 2 + 8 * (2 - 2 1/4) < this last number is two and one quarter

3 * 2 + 2 + 8 * (-1/4) < two minus two and one quarter = -1/4

6 + 2 - 2 = 6 < now use operator precedence, mult. goes first.

I normally respond to stuff like this with DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK, but I couldn't resist doing it. A clue for me was that I knew the fraction would have to be multipled by 8 since that's the only way it was going to get back to being a whole number, and therefore allow you to end up with an answer like '6' instead of 6 3/4, or something like that.

[3 x (5 - 3 + 2)]+ (8 x 2) [- 6 / (4 ^2)]=6

that goes to

(3 x 4)+ (8 x 2)(-6/16)
12 + (16)x(-6/16)
12+(-6)
12-6
6

be sure to study that and not just copy it down, or the teacher will know you aren't really learning anything

Don't you remember the order of operations -- what operations are solved first?

Hint: Start by Simplification --
Simplify the Exponents (^)
Find out where the * and / signs are
Perform all multiplications (*) and divisions (/) from left to right

AFTER this ... then perform all the addition and subtraction from left to right.

AFTER you have done these steps, the problem will be solved.

Maybe I'm reading what you typed incorrectly, but I don't see how it's possible with that fraction in there.
