I don't know if this was answered, but the origin of the word ghetto comes from Venice, where an areea of the city was reserved for jews so that they wouldn't openly mingle with the christian population and weaken christianism there.

People seem to think if you live in Ontario housing that there all ghetto's when there not .I can't stand how people use that as an excuse for bad behaviour or stealing or being a criminal. You hear it all the time oh life was so hard cause i came from a ghetto plz i wish those people who say that would take a look in the mirror and see that it was them that did whatever wrong and made the bad decision's not the ghetto.YES it's used to much n i am sick of it they should re learn the real wording Ontario Housing or low income homes.

He is right, you know. The original ghettos were Jewish. The word has become mainstream and is overused now. But no one group of people can claim the word ghetto as theirs! So everyone does have the right to use the word if they please.

Yes, I am tired of white and Asian referring to things as being ghetto but it's our fault. We use these terms carelessly and now we have to real with the consequences.
Really, I became physically ill when I heard an asian woman refer to her hair as nappy.
Stop the madness!!!!!!!!

Yeah, especially since it is a Yiddish word and that they probably don't know it is related to the Holocaust.
