Overall Britain isn't as bad as America, but it takes a mature personality to admit that it is very unlikely that everything is better in one country than the other.
If you are presuming that America (or Britain) does not have poverty, racism and squalor, be careful. Both have homelessness and pennylessness problems and both have a less than ideal relationship between home-born whites,
home-born people of colour and immigrants (and all the nastinesses that come with it). But on the whole, Britain's
government and state do more to help the poor and the unable to work than the American government does, which is reassuring to know in case you or I ever end up in such an unfortunate position - we can feel lucky if we are in the UK then.
Rather than blame the governments, which are only reflections of voter beaviour in both societies, I say we should blame the media and the education system. They reinforce stereotypes about the rich and the poor, about minorities and immigrants, and associate certain types of people with criminal behaviour in our minds through their editorial/curriculum decisions.
So please realise that, whichever side of the pond you are on, there are still advantages to being where you are and identical problems being experienced elsewhere.

No No No, it's the other way around. In Britian if a mojor city was wiped out in a hurricane like New Orleans it would be up and running properly again with no poverty within a year.
If America was under Clinton still then I'd bet new oprleans and it's people would be sorted by now

Americans are way more racist than Brits
And you Yanks have your poverty too. You don't even try to help your poor.
The squalor is caused by the fact that this country is overcrowded with people who shouldn't even be here (ie half of Poland).

Britain isn't as bad as America, but it's getting there, blame the government, they cause divides between rich and poor, help the rich and make the poor struggling people worse off, they should have someone brain dead as prime minister, they'd probably do a better job than the lot we've got!! x

The poverty, racism and squalor is tenfold in America. Don't be fooled by their glossy sitcoms. It's ok for a holiday, but I wouldn't want to live there.
