I think you should reconsider your feelings about this. Talent is owned nor is it given out in equal portions. Your sister has the same right to explore the various aspects of like just as you do. If she wants to learn to play the guitar or to take gymnastics classes, there is no reason she can not do so just like there is no reason you couldn't.

I suggest you do some 'soul searching' and try to determine where these feelings about her learning to play is coming from. I think you'll find that your feelings are very much at odds with the what it right.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I had the same problem, basically what you have to do is scare them. Here are some ideas: Tell her that she REALLY has to like it, or else she'll have to pay for the guitar if she quits. Tell her that if she takes drums then you could have a band (not really, but it'll get her to do something else). When she is going to buy a guitar, trick her into buying a Bass Guitar, she'll think its nothing different, she shouldn't question you unless she knows about the differences.

Consider it a compliment and encourage her! My sister wanted to persue art, which was my talent, and now, I'm the artist and she's working at a minimum wage job. The true talent will rise to the top.

Now that I've said that, keep in mind that when you are older, your sister's success will greatly affect your life. You don't want to do anything that you may regret later, like become jealous or obsessive about your hobbies.

Good luck and remember that sisters are forever.

Let her take guitar. She's not trying to steal your thunder and if you were mature you would have no problem with sharing your talent in music with her. Shame for trying to prevent her from doing something she wants. The world does not revolve around you.

There's room in the world for a few more guitarists! Each of you should explore lots of different hobbies! Don't compete so much, instead, blend and work together! Try to get along and help each other out and you'll have a closer relationship!

Don't be so selfish. Many people have the desire and the talent to play guitar, not just you.

She has as much right to learn the guitar as you do. Why does it bother you? You shhould be happy that you might be able to play together. It's good to have someone to jam with.

Thats very childish of you. You could give her lessons yourself if your good at it. If you have other things that your interested in then why shouldnt she take your lessons ?????
