Yep you have to get the update. It is cool though because now they let you download stuff without having to conncect to a computer for demo games and such. The homepage is for PSP and it is pretty easy to get around. Read your manual as well because you need to create an internet connection.
I use this a lot when I am at the airport now that I have to store my laptop-

you can either A) update your firmware
B) downgrade to 1.5 and get Device Hook.
note: you have to have a pre existing wireless network to get on the internet with your psp

first download the update second make sure you have a wifi broudband routher in your house hold not cox then go ahead and install it and you have it but the internet will probly only work at your house or a school for instence

the ability to connect to the Internet is already there on the psp,via wifi,but you have to connect from your home networks wireless modem or using the wifi wireless connect to an unsecured network hotspot...read your manual
