Are we seeing the actual story, or do the video editing crew cut and paste scenes to make it appear to be a coherent story?

Hi, Since the Meerkats can't read or memorize a script, I think they film the Meerkats and then write a story around what has been filmed. I am sure there is some cutting and pasting, but it would be easier to write the story after they have filmed. It is cute program isn't it?

Really, it is combination of the two.

Most nature shows are so edited that you really believe you are watching that 'wild' animal doing whatever they say it is doing.

Usually they are not even filmed in the wild, many sequences are filmed in preserves and sometimes with trained animals.

HOWEVER, I venture to say it is a pain to train a meerkat, and while the show's bread and butter is the anthropomorphizing of these cute little buggers, I think Meerkat Manor may be a tad better than some of the others out there.

YES, they do CRAZY editing but I think still there is a spontaneous factor than cannot be accounted for and that is part of the fun of that show.
