It is good to have both, in my opinion. For when you don't have a source of electricity around it is nice to have the manual pump. But to do on a regular basis you definately want to have the electric. Consumes less time and it's more efficient. Also, I think the manual ones can make your breasts sore after awhile and your arm REALLY tired. They rent the electric ones at hospitals, and if you qualify for WIC they loan them out (for free last I checked). Good luck.

If you do it occasionally, then manual is fine. BUt if you are going to be pumping quite often then an electric one for sure. A manual can be a pain.

i only needed to pump occasionaly and i started witha Medela Pump in Style, which is electric. I hated it! I needed to pump in my car, as i was working an an outdoor theatre and i got an Avent Isis. I loooved the Isis i got a lot more milk and it never hurt. Of cours, your hand does get tired and i wouldn't use it if I had to pump regularly. hospitals rentals are the best for moms that are EPing or have a need to pump A LOt!

manual is best if you are on the go and need to pump when away from home... Electric is absolutely heaven sent when you are at home no mess no hard work just sit back and get milked! I had both for these reasons .. Good luck !

From my experience--electric. Your arm will practically fall off using the manual. (Manual might be OK if you're only doing an occasional pump.)

Electric definately. They're more efficient and take less time. They do cost significantly more. You can rent the ones they have at hospitals and buy the attachments. That saves $. My daughter was in the NICU for a month and I did that during that time.

i've got tried the two handbook and electric powered. i stumbled on handbook to be too time ingesting and your hand extremely starts off to injury till now you get sufficient milk out. you may get small electric powered pumps which could pass out everywhere on battery. yet its incredibly as much as you on what you come to a variety.
