Actually, this IS considered murder in several states who have changed their laws in the last few years. Read the information provided in the following link:
http://www.nrlc.org/Unborn_Victims/MarciniakTestimony.htm

Tracy Marciniak was a friend of mine for the short time she lived here in Florida, and I became familiar with this issue through her. She was directly responsible for getting the law changed in her home state (Wisconsin) after her unborn baby died as a direct result of the brutal beating she received from her own husband.

As the "best friend" of a woman who has been assaulted as you have described, I URGE you to contact the police on her behalf, if she won't do it herself. She should have an order of protection in place immediately, and, despite her grief, be willing to press charges against the person who assaulted her. Your friend may have used poor judgement in getting involved with someone she didn't know all that well, but that is no excuse for what has happened to her. She is a victim, in every sense of the word, and needs help to get through her ordeal and loss. She should speak with a grief counselor and also someone who is a victim's rights advocate. These professionals will help guide her through the difficult days ahead. By no means should this crime go unpunished. Even if the guy can't be charged with murder (because of the laws in your state), he can most certainly be charged with aggravated assault and battery, and possibly other domestic violence crimes as well. He should NOT be allowed to go off on his merry way, as surely another woman will bear the brunt of his dangerous behavior down the road. I wish you and your friend much strength and luck in this difficult and sad time. I think that she will heal more quickly if she is able to do something that makes her feel as if she has some control again - and pressing charges against this animal is a good place to start.

You mean he hit her to the point of where she miscarried.. If soo that is sad. And in a way it is murder. Be there as her friend and tell her to get out. If a guy hits you once he will hit you again and again... Even if he says he is sorry and doesnt do it for awhile. When things get tough he will do it again. Her best bet is too get away. But you have to get her to see it that way. and if you have to go ahead and find homes for battered wife just in case she has to go that far to get away. But until she realizes it just be there for her no matter how rough it gets.

If shes with him still, then I'm afraid all you can do is support her when things eventually turn sour! Please don't have a go at him, as it sounds like he dosn't need much of a reason to put his hands on her and will do so if you try to help. Be a really good friend and just help her. If she cuts ties with you then don't hold it against her, these people have a knack at persuading people to do as they want, but let her know that you will ALWAYS be there for her

This guy should be held responsible because of his actions an innocent baby will never have a life. She should get him for aggravated battery and for second degree murder in my eyes but i dont know if that would happen. As a friend you need to be there for her to help cope with this loss and keep this jerk away from her.

You need to be there for her as a best friend because she really needs you right now! You have every right to be angry because she was involved in an abusive relationship-don't get angry at her! But for now, be there for her and continue to support her, and especially, be there for her as a best friend! Good luck!

Theres not alot you can do if your friend loves him, as they say love is blind , the more you nag her that hes no good the more she will stay with him to prove you all wrong, just be a friend and be there to pick up the pieces when she does come to her senses

first off...she must report this thug, it does not matter how long ago it happened..there should be medical records at the hospital if she was admitted...she lost her baby because of him, you MUST be there for her at all costs...i can understand why your mad at her for not telling you but it wont help her if you give her grief about it...this is my opinion only...this lad need to have a valuable lesson taught to him...get him locked up so he does not do this to someone else

Be there for her and tell her to get rid of the boy, he sounds like trouble with a capital T.

why are you mad at her? you should be mad at him for battering her.
she needs you more than ever as a friend.
obviously, he is mentally abusing her because she is still with him.
you need to try and get her away from him before he kills her.
she needs to file a report of battery to police.
make her see this ASAP.
