If someone asked you if you would ever date them, would you interpret that as they want to date you?

Mostly, but not necessarily. It depends on how it's said, in what situation, etc.

For example, if I'd just spent a fun day full of laughter and sweetness with a best guy friend at an amusement park or something similar, and then, unexpectedly, he turned and asked 'Would you ever date me?", I'd think it meant something.

If we're laughing and joking as we watch 'The Bachelor' or some other stupid show on TV and he asks "Would you ever date me?", I wouldn't expect it meant anything.

Does that make sense? Most remarks probably fall somewhere in between those two scenarios, making it hard to understand, but it could just be that the person wants to know about their own desirability, and is using you as a mirror to tell them their strengths and flaws.

It would depend on the context. If they're asking in relation to a specific trait they have (ethnicity, height, fashion sense, religion, whatever) then probably not. I'd assume the question was hypothetical. If they popped that question out of thin air, though, that would be another story.

It's a compliment to you- they think highly enough of you that what you think, matters. It does not mean that they want to date you but that what they're after is would someone LIKE YOU date them.

No not really. Everyone wants to be wanted and everyone like to know that they aren't so bad. So by asking a open question like that, you get to tell them what's great about them so that way they feel good about themselves.

Yeah, they want 2 know if they're Ur type, if U say yes then they'll more than likely ask U out but if U say no then maybe they'll back off.
