Even before I found out I was pregnant, I have been really really irritable. I seem not to be able to control my anger. I think it is the hormones, but my husband seems to think I am "choosing" to act this way. It is really hard for me to control and having zero sympathy just makes it worse. What should I do? Everything from traffic, to waiting in line, to all the chores that get overlooked, my toddler being difficult seems to push me over the edge. I am not dangerous or violent, but I do lash out verbally and inside can feel annoyance and irritability mounting. What did you do and did this pass with time?

Oh yes, it's normal. And don't worry, we understand youuu! lol :-)
A good way to ease the anger feeling is to eat fresh things, lots of vegetables and fruits, and workout! That realeases "happy hormones" and you'll feel better honey! :-)

Were you having these issues prior to becoming pregnant? If so I can tell you from experience that the hormone factor will make it feel alot worse. I have been where I think you are and yes it is very hard to control. I'm wondering if that is why your husband may be less tollerant and is saying that you are just blaming the pregnancy. Please feel free to email me if you'd like to vent. I too suffered horribly just trying to do simple tasks like the ones you mentioned. Going to the bank or the food store was horrible because I knew I was gonna end up very agitated etc. As for the husband part of it, just keep trying to explain to him that the hormones raging through your body are really difficult to handle. It's not something you can stop from happening. You just have to try to redirect your feelings at the time. Try walking away if possible instead of lashing out verbally. Take a walk if you can....anything to take yourself out of the situation at the time. Like I said, please feel free to email me if you need to . I think I know how you feel. Good luck !

Oh man, I'm there right now, 12 weeks and ready to rip my husbands head off is he so much as steps wrong. I dont WANT to rip his head off, but my instict is to do just that. You can't control your hormones and if you feel like zero tolerance then thats' what you need. It's difficult for your husband to understand because he's not the on going through all the changes and acting all goofy because of hormones. He'll be irritated along with you :) Consider it a bonding time and if you don't kill him then you'll only be stronger as a couple! lol Good luck to you!

I'm 27 wks pregnant and I feel that way a lot and it does seem that some people think it's just no big deal. Maybe though that is part of your personality and it is more prominent now that your pregnant. I would definitely tell your doctor about this and see what he has to say. Also I think you should give yourself a break, life is never perfect and even though we strive to make it that way there are things we can't control. Good Luck with the baby and hope you can find a way to calm down.

Hormones. @ 7 months I've notices I've been verbally aggressive. Traffic just plain pisses me off. Normally I'm very even tempered. I feel like I've got pms 2x over. Get the What to expect when expecting" book. It explains that its hormones and may come and go through out pregnancy. Some women become psychotic so a little irritability is nothing.
My little one will probably come out already knowing some very very offensive words and hand gestures considering what I've been calling people in traffic, I sure hope this goes away...lol.

some people don't react much to the hormones, some are average and some are severe. if your irritability issues are that bad, perhaps you should try to plan around the things that irritate you the most. as much as you can, time your driving so that the traffic isn't so bad, if waiting in line bothers you, try to go when lines are shortest (avoid lunch hour, before ten am and after work hours...5pm and on) if chores get overlooked, don't grumble, just do them, as many as you can as easily as you can stuff is gonna happen, and it will bother you, but take a deep breath and dig right in. the stuff will get done.

God yes, Totally, it will fade the further you go on in pregnancy. I would have proper melt downs and even though I knew my reactions were irrational and unjustified I couldn't control myself. It was usually about 2 hours after my outburst that I could sit down and think about it, but then I would cry for realising how horrible I had been ! I does get better and it is you hormones. I found explaining to my partner how I was feeling worked occasionally, he's a man and just couldn't cope at times. Hang in there it does get better .

oh lord....you waited this long?? everyone knew i was irritable after two weeks of pregnancy. something to do with hormones. i get this way with all my pregnancies. normally i am a somewhat nice person and a hard worker. i don't know what anyone is talking about half the time about my instant attitude change. and tell your tom cruise husband to lighten up. he's just gonna have to deal with it. breathe. take some time to yourself every day. even if it means locking yourself in the bathroom with headphones for an hour. DO IT! you are gonna need it. it gets better. the fact that you are aware of it helps. bring it up with your doctor. maybe she has some additional advice.

Your husband really needs to understand that this is normal and this is how it is going to be. Your right, its hard to control. Im 21 weeks and the smallest things that have not bothered me before really make me mad now. Even my kids are more irritating to me , even though I try and stay calm with them. My husband is annoying sometimes. I jsut cant help it. I can go from laughing to crying in a heartbeat. It sux. He better learn that its hard for you and that he needs to deal with it. Everything will go back to normal after the baby is born.
