Because I can hear the voices going round... and round.... and round in my head, and then they start arguing with eachother, and then I have to step in to take control of the situation, and that's when it gets ugly....
then I really have to say to myself, "self, I know you're listening, because I can hear you talking"
and Self replies, "self, I know you're talking because I'm not listening!!!"
then there's a silence, and Self pops up and says "self, stop talking and listen to yourself! - have you ever heard such.. **£$!!! "
oh, it could go on, but I must stop myself!!!

If you were listening you would know because you would hear yourself. I think a better question is "how often do I talk to myself when I'm not listening?" because you have no way of knowing! Maybe you do it all the time.

If you can remember what you said then you must have been listening. If you disagree with what you said then you have multiple personality disorder.
You may have that even if you do agree but at least in that case you are both getting on well together so whats the harm.

On a real note mate, every one speaks to themselves. its what they speak to themselves that determines if they are a few pence short of a pound or not. when you start hearing yourself, it is actually your subconscience (your Godly being) talking and you should not ignore it.

yay i talk to myself all the time, but stop when i realise i'm doing hand and facial gestures. haha then i get the feeling everyone was watching me and feel like a clown!! aren't times fun?!
best though, is when you see someone else doing it. i watch them, its so funny. then when they finally realise they're doing it, its just stupidly funny!
The ones who argue with themselves are the best! bless they're cottons. ironically talking to yourself isnt a 'symptom' of scizophrenia..... (my fact of the day haha)
