The Washington/Cherry tree story is probably a myth or an embellishment.
Jefferson did have children with one of his slaves.

The cherry tree story is almost surely fabricated. It is supposed to illustrate Washington's honesty.
The slave story was proven true by genetic testing of people who claimed descendency from those mixed children, by comparing them with known descendents of TJ.
