The Farmers Branch City Council on Monday night unanimously approved ordinances preventing illegal immigrants from renting apartments, making English the city's official language and allowing police officers to be federally trained to target "criminal aliens."
Other communities, such as Escondido, Calif., Valley Park, Mo., and Hazleton, Pa., have passed similar measures, although all face court challenges.
Farmers Branch Councilman Tim O'Hare, who initially suggested pursuing the measures locally, said that he has received about 2,000 e-mails since Monday night and that fewer than a dozen were negative.
"The goal of this is to let everyone in this country illegally know they are not welcome in Farmers Branch," O'Hare said.

OK. what do you think? Why won't people come in legally? I don't understand? Why "sneak" in when there is a way to do it legally? Help me understand folks....

Why sneak in?
Because it's faster and easier than going through the legal channels. Because all they have to do is walk through the desert for a few hours. Because the system allows illegals to work here, and employers to hire them without any documentation. Because Mexico isn't doing enough to strengthen it's own economy and has become a leech on the underside of the US. Ask Western Union how much money is sent to Mexico if you don't believe that.
It's really not about race, it's about money. People want to have money and will do whatever they can to get it. I don't blame them for coming here, but I don't think that allowing it is good for the US.

Silly meaningless law. LOL
How is this ordinance enforced?
Who is prosecuted for the violation?
What changes by having an ordinance that says English is the "official" language?
Doesn't all this push away legal immigrants (of any race or ethnicity)?
What an idiotic gesture.
This country is becoming increasingly psychotic.

To answer you questions at the bottom. People do come in legally. Others don't because our immigration system is slow and corrupt. But bottom line... Our economy continues to demand and hire cheap labor. Why? - Why do US companies/businesses get away with hiring illegal immigrants over 6% of its work force. Less than 5% of our population are illegal immigrants and yet we have over 6% represented in our work force... Illegal immigrants are clearly here to work... work hard and cheap, for anyone that will hire them. And people will continue to hire them because they are cheap, they work hard, and there's really no serious punishment for hiring an illegal worker.
When will people get it... Illegal immigrants aren't the problem it's our economy, our pathetic labor and work ethic, and labor/employer laws, and our immigration system.

the authentic difficulty of immigration is the shown truth that we've a authorities it really is not ruled by the rule of thumb of regulation - and that is an outstanding probability to all individuals liberal or conservative. even as the authorities can arbitrarily pick which guidelines to implement, and which ones now to not implement, or perhaps which ones to easily make up instant without democracy - we are all in enormous difficulty. So even as that is totally legal, and already legal in federal regulation, the ACLU is often able to get a favor to overturn the rule of thumb of modern-day regulation (and the sparkling will of the individuals).

Let's see...
Because they have been deported before and have to sneak in.
Because they have no intention of obeying our laws to begin with, so why enter legally.
Because our country allows them to, in fact rewards them for doing so!
I think that every city in the US ought to start approving these ordinances. The ACLU can only fight so many of them at one time. Their resources are finite, and if enough people stand together, we can stop the ACLU and illegal immigration too.

The "MAIN" reason they try to get in the U.S. illegally, is that its faster, get caught, get sent back, and try again. The legal process is long, and requires many interviews and supporting documents, and many people get fed up and try illegally. They want to do it now, not later. And another reason is because they might be criminals in their own country and won't be allowed to legally apply to enter the United States.

Good for Texas. They need to make it as hard on illegals as possible. They need to go back to their own country.
