No, it's not "ok". You're not giving your body the rest it needs to recuperate and heal and eventually you will have sleep deprivation. The average person needs at least 8 hours a night...some a little more. Sleep deprivation can cause a lot of health problems, so get some more shut eye for your own sake. Now go take a nap! What are you doing the other 2 days? Not sleeping at all, or getting the recommend 6-8 hours?
I find that I function the BEST with just 5 1/2 hours of sleep. My grandmother was the same way. If I get too much sleep I feel tired all day. Sometimes I sleep 6 1/2 hours, but I can't sleep anymore than that. Everyone is different!

The issue is rest - not sleep - but no 5 1/2 hours of sleep 5 days a week is not OK. The average sleep cycle is 90 minutes, and people require 4 completed sleep cycles daily for optimum health and functioning. If all sleep cycles were perfect, this would imply a minimum of 6 hours sleep daily, but of course, nothing is perfect. The average individual requires 8 hours of sleep to obtain the required 6 hours of restorative sleep.

IF you could make it up during the weekend I think it should be okay. Example during the weekend instead of sleeping just 6 hours, sleep 8 to 10. I think you should be fine.

Its dependent upon the person I think the norm is 8 but I say if you are able to function through the day getting what you deem is necessary during your day then you are okay but if you are dragging,or you arent able to concentrate on the simplest of tasks etc then you may need more sleep.

Everyone is different, so the right answer for you might not be the right answer for someone else.
If you are tired, then it's not ok. If you function normally and feel good, then it is enough.
