It means that there would be no further hearings or court action... to complete the thought you'd need the context - it could be deferral pending some event or time ... you didn't give enough facts to fully answer.

It would have been helpful if you had explained your question a bit better, and had given some context. However, Deferral of Further Proceedings sounds like a term that would commonly be used when a a diversion agreement is done.

In many jurisdictions, for minor and first time offenders, diversion is a way to avoid a conviction. For instance, in some states, a first offense DUI charge, (within limits and at the prosecution's discretion), can be diverted. Generally, the defendant admits they were drunk and driving, waives their right to a speedy trial, and enters a conditional plea of guilty. Then, the court defers (or puts on hold) further proceedings for a set period of time. (commonly 1 year) During this time, the defendant has to go through a series of steps, often including counseling, classes, paying a fine, community service, alcohol monitoring, etc. At the end of that period, the court dismisses the charge.
