I'm sorry if I sound like a snob, but neither is a very good deal. Check the blue book on the grand prix, for example.
Fortunately, I have experience with both cars. I should warn you that the grand prix is fairly notorious for its reliability. You may not get the miles out of it you might expect. As for the firebird...I have two, and my fiancee had one, a 2002 V6. With a V8 (like mine), it's a fun, exciting car. With a V6....it's one of the most annoying cars I ever drove. I consider it a dog. Keep in mind also that the 2002 has a far more powerful/reliable engine than the '97 too.
That said, if you're stuck in an either/or situation, and have absolutely no other option, test drive both. On the Firebird be sure to note how it handles and rides (these are not good things). On the grand prix note the torque steer and general quality of the car. Have each *thoroughly* inspected. I can't actually endorse either car, so I'm sorry. As a former used car dealer I can tell you that you can get one very nice little car for $4000-4500 so, if you can, keep looking! Be sure to check out consumer reports and the kelley blue book online.

Mileage rarely has much of an impact on larger engines.
Where it does impact is on your torque converter - which is going to be a large expense at some point, I'd say the lower mileage car would be better as long as there are no signs it has been thrashed.
Either way, personally, I'd say ignore both - get a car with a manual box!

The fire bird, it has less miles and costs less and both cars are comparable in power and design, although I think the Firebird is a sportier looking car ..

Rock look after/splash shelter would desire to nevertheless be linked to the engine/ bellhousing. There are 2 pilot pins between the two that variety of draw % up each and every so often. The torque converter will additionally be a good greater healthful on the recess of the crankshaft.
