every time i saved my program on desktop, the default icon was shown. I want to change to my own icon, but I do not know how. please help!

you can open up the default icon and just edit it (in MFC), or add a new icon and link it to your program. the first method is the easiest though. off the top of my head, i couldnt tell you exactly how though.

You need to embed a resource (.res) into your program. Resources can hold data of any type (wav files, bitmaps, cursors, icons).
Research the VS ways of adding resources (and converting them appropriately). Then, when your program is written out to disk, Windows will choose the first icon in the resource list and display it automatically.

Add your icon to the Resource File as

IDI_ICONNAME ICON "Icon.ico"

Make sure it is the first ICON defined in the resource file and that it has the lowest numbered resource ID of all the icons and that will be your default icon.

nicely, in case you prefer to alter the icon of ur very own selfmade exe, then idk. yet to alter the exe, then this would help. suitable click and would say substitute icon at backside. click diff tabs till you discover it. then substitute and click practice then ok.
