Somebody gives you money to purchase a lottery ticket. They choose the same number every week. Every week you tell them you got the ticket but really you pocket the money instead.
Effectively you're robbing them of an almost infinitely small chance of winning, virtually nothing at all. They still get the experience of playing the game.
Yet it feels very immoral.
Is it?

I believe it is very immoral. I remember watchcing a show that was like that and he eventually won the lottery and gave the person that bought the ticket everyday the winning money. So, he ended up screwing things up for himself.

They don't play the lottery only for the feeling. They play for the chance of winning, however small it is, and you are taking that away from them.

The Devils Advocate.

If it is an old person or a handicapped person or a mentally ill person then you would be a jack off to do such a thing...

But if it is a normal everyday idiot. Feast and fodder babe!

theft is theft.u have taken a persons money(not u necessarily,i mean theoretically)and kept it.actually, the truly moral thing to do would be to tell the person-"u have almost no chance of winning.save ur money",and refuse to participate in any way.

Yes, it is immoral, dishonest, and despicable! You are embezzling your friend's money which was entrusted to you--you are stealing, and it is wrong.

A person who would do this is not a friend at all. On my planet we have another name for it--THIEF!!
