The older the computer, the higher the chance the only way to make it work faster is by throwing it out your window.
If you the ability, you should format your hard drive and reinstall only what you HAVE To have on your computer. This will help in your computer running faster.
If you have a PC with Windows, you have an option of running 'disk defragment'. If you can locate that, run it. It helps compile your files into a more organized format which helps your computer run better.
If you can't reformate your drive, delete the programs (not just the icons) that you don't use, run a program like Adaware to help clean up trackers (or some other program like that), and try not to add anymore unnecessary programs.
I hope these help you out. Best of luck!

If you have never tried to clean up your system there are a couple of things you can try to make your system run faster. First, go up to the tool bar and pull down tools and click on Internet options.
Under general look in the middle and click on delete cookies then hit O.K.
Next, (I'm assuming your running XP) click the start button in lower left corner and go to control panel, performance and maintenance. Click on free up space on your hard disk and follow instructions. Once completed run a def rag (where it says rearrange items on your hard disk.)
This would be a start. Once these are completed you can run ad ware and spy bot. These are free and can be found through your search browser.
If these don't work you may have to reformat your hard drive.

Usually it is not worth the time or money to upgrade computers unless they are fairly recent and of very good quality. You can usually but a faster computer brand new for less money if you shop around. I like the special deals offered at Best Buy or CompUSA. If you run older software like DOS - often a slow computer will meet your needs without upgrading it. - Good luck.

Pop some more RAM in to it. Cut down on unneeded programs (especially ones that load at start up). Don't load the most modern programs in to it. The more modern the program is, the more complex it is. The more complex it is, the longer it will take an older system to load and run it.
