What's the difference between the 5th generation iPod and the 5.5 generation? Or is there not a difference at all? I'm trying to decide if I should go with the newer model. Thanks for your help!

the newer ones have a brighter screen which is better for watching movies, and they are also slimmer and have more space (80 gb), and longer battery life..on the regular 5th generation ones the first ones, the battery lasted for 2 hours when you were watching a movie, so you could only watch 1 movie. but now the battery is longer, so its better. there are also newer headphones which are cool.

I would always suggest going with the newer model. If you were buying a car, would you want the old model or the new model?

go with the new version. all the time, apple comes out with new models of iPods. everytime they try to make them better. Less defects and better results. And if you wait about 3 weeks, im sure another new model will come out

newer doesn't always mean better...automobiles generally being better when newer isn't really relevant. (alhough I respect your choice of analogy. but what's important is how stable the software is, and if it suits your needs.
