Pineapples live and root into the ground and do not grow tall. They can be propagated by chopping the top leafy area off. Leave a little bit of the pineapple top under the leaves and plant this part in a pot or in the ground. If you live in a feezing area plant it in a pot so you can move when it gets too cold. Be pationant and in two years you can eat your own self grown pineapple. They make a nice looking plant while growing.

You've already seen a plant. Look at the top of a pineapple. The green top is actually a new plant. You can cut off the top, with about 2-3 inches of the pineapple flesh, and plant it. It grows into a spiny, 2-5 ft plant, and blooms. A bromelied, it puts out a flower spike from the center, which turns into the pineapple plant.
