as a bt home hub customer(like myself),if you have installed the software that came with the hub you should have a icon called "hub manager"
if you use this you will be given a information window which will give you your download amount and also your upload amount
by adding both these together you will get your total usage,so in your case it will be 500mb per week so you need to watch what you download, however if you just surf the internet(no downloading,or streaming video,s or radio) you can use 50 hours a week with your usage allowance
that works out at over 9 hours a day,so if you just do internet work you should be fine, but if you want to start downloading, why not go option 2 or 3
but dont worry,bt will normally allow you to go over a gigabyte or two every now and again but if it becomes regular they may contact you to talk about upgrading to the next option
i am on option 3 and have a 40gb usage allowance, but the most i have ever used is 25gb in one month, but i am a keen downloader
so keep a eye on your hub manager, and if needed note your amounts down so you dont over use
also have you thought about using the talk talk broadband package, its free with their talk package(£20 per month for the talk plan) and you get 8mbit connection speed and a 40gb download usage allowance, not bad for nothing....take a look at http://www.talktalk.co.uk/talktalk/servlet/gben-home-Home,this will give you more info
any probs let me know
good luck

You can't. I am on option 3 and got a email last month saying that I have downloaded over 40Gb in one month (Due to building a new computer), I talked my way out of it ;)
When asking if they could tell me how to monitor my usage they told me to download a 3rd party ASDL monitoring tool.
You need to do a search for one of these and install, there are plenty out there. I have not done so yet.

RE: 10 GB month-to-month utilization on BT Broadband? making an allowance for replacing to BT Broadband and they grant 10GB month-to-month utilization. What precisely does month-to-month utilization mean? is this how a lot belongings you may receive? Or does this comprise webpages that you view?

B.T. will normally send you an email telling you that you are near your limit. If you do go over it but not too often they don't usually bother. There are ADSL tools on the Internet that you can download that will give you this information, but whether there are free versions about I am not sure. Maybe someone will be able to come up with one hopefully?
