I have been through a Tornado. We moved down into the basement. Do they have anything underground in your building? Storage or parking? I would go down as low and you can in the building and stay in a doorway.

It has been several hours since you posted, I am wondering if everything is ok now.

The best thing is to note the locations of the nearest storm shelters or at least basements - try to safely head to the nearest one when a tornado warning is issued.

If you have no time to run for more suitable shelter, go to a small room or hallway in the center of the building - the idea is to put more walls between you and the outside - preferably on the lowest storey. Protect your head, face and eyes with a mattress or blanket.

Go to the nearest Police/Sheriff Dept,Community Center,or better yet,ask your Property Manager where everyone is to go. Get away from any windows,go to where there is a long hallway,do NOT get into an elevator except to get out of the building. A watch is only that there is a chance of a tornado developing a warning is that there is one in the area. Good luck and am praying for your safety ^j^

If you don't have a storm shelter get to a basement. If you don't have a basement you basicly want to put as many walls or other objects (heavy object) between you and the outside of you house. Walls made of stucco, or other stone are better than those made of wood and drywall or plaster. I also advise looking for somewhere in the northeast corner because if stuffs gonna fall its less likely to fall there.

considering you haven't any longer have been given a basement, you are able to bypass the midsection maximum area on your place, ideally a closet, or on your bathing room. Do any of your associates have a basement? Edit: then you quite could detect a closet or corridor way on the edge of the midsection of your place or get into your tub and placed a blanket or mattress over your self for defense. be constructive you're taking a radio with you to stay as much as date.

best thing is too crack your window a bit as too not cause too much pressure in your home.
If you have time, run to the nearest shelter.
Also, ditches are a great place to go.
Do NOT go near windows, or sit in a car. You want to be as low to the ground as possible. Face down and cover your neck with your hands.
Good luck.
