The Shiites will celebrate and the Sunni's will weep, he will die a martyr, because his capture followed his standing up to Bush and Blair, defending his country. The Islamists won't care either way, as they didn't consider him to be following the way that God had intended all Muslims to follow. Their greatest enemies are Bush and Blair, who are responsible for more deaths than Saddam ever was. The civil war will last a very long time, and when it is over, another dictator will take Saddam's place. Since the 10th century, strong ruthless leaders have always rules Iraq, because of all the different sections which make up Iraqi society and they tend to have a tribal mentality, only a very severe leader could control them

I will say yes. As it is the main religious factions are almost on the verge of civil war. Killing Saddam will I believe, be the trigger for the Sunnis to elevate the current strife to a new level. The Americans want Saddam dead but his death will only further escalate the security problems. If the USA is hoping that his death will make it easier to exit Iraq, a greater shock for America awaits. America with its might easily won the battle to topple Saddam but has completely lost the war. Iraq was definitiely more peaceful under Saddam and many Iraqis now long for the 'old' days and forced-down democracy be damned.

i don't know if they will think of him as a martyr, but it is going to cause more violence.since his arrest ,his people the Sunni's have not been happy.since he has been found guilty it has made them furious.they feel that since no weapons were ever found the U.n.invasion carried out by the United States was un warranted.and they are probably right.but the man was and is a scum bag so screw him.i just don't like so many of our soldiers and workers plus their innocent women and children dying under those false pretenses.the longer we stay there the more bloodshed there will be.you can't really blame these people.they just don't like the U.S. being there.if it was reversed and they invaded our country we would be fighting with every means we had, just like they are.i say get our soldiers out of harms way and bring them home before more families lose loved ones to this insanity.

Problem is that it is not in our hands. He is in the hands of the FIRST ELECTED government of Iraq. He is on trial by his people. Sure we are making sure he is safely detained but the trial and death sentence will be carried out be FREELY ELECTED Iraqi Govt.
..and to answer your question, yes. There will be violence and Islamic Jihadist will make a martyr out of him since they are experts at exploiting the media. If his is made a martyr by Islamic Extremist (realist), does that prove ties to them?

Killing Saddam will be a US victory, yes some will shed blood, but it is a US victory, when it is done.
Maybe then our troops can come home.
The sooner the better, I say.

Probably, but if he's not got rid of, his supporters will try to free him, certainly hurting innocent people in the process. In the present case it may die down eventually; in the other case it never will.

Saddam was a homicidally-insane f***pig. He deserves to die. The more horrifically, the better in my opinion.
