Spinach? I never heard of giving a baby spinach for constipation. I've heard of Karo Syrup. You might want to check with your baby's pediatrician b/c really no one is the room is able to better advise you than your child's pediatrician.

I agree that boiling fresh and pureeing it would be awesome- more natural than jar and cheap.
However, if you have a constipated baby then iron filled Spinach most likely wont help. Maybe Pre-natal vitamins didnt block you up- but most people I know that have taken them including myself say the same thing- IRON Constipates!
Try the juice, you can delute it if you want. Also, the prunes could be helpful too. And water- but how many babies like water??? You can also use the low iron formula if you are currently using high iron (most are) if only for a few days. Good Luck.

If you can not find spinach as a baby food you could always buy spinach that is for adults cook it then put it in a blender so it has no lumps in it, so its puree then you will have made your own baby food spinach which will also be cheaper i know this will be ok because i have done this myself

try the spinach but also lay your baby flat on his/her back. NOw with you hands, push at the base of the baby's feet, guiding the knees toward the chest. bring legs back down and repeat. This helps the feces down the intestinal tract. Push up(slowly), pause, and then (slowly) bring the legs down. I feel that more food in th system will cause more pain for the child so this is one method that works well. You could also buy baby suppositories, they work rather fast as well and causes no further discomfort to the stomach.

Make your own--take spinach and blend it with a little bit of water. They don't make it though.

How old is your baby?

1) Under 6 months: give 2 ounces of water ever 6 hours.
2) Over 6 months: try peaches, prunes

Also, are you sure your baby is constipated and not just saving up her BM for you? ;-) If she hasn't had a BM after 3 days, try going to a doctor. She may be able to offer so more suggestions.

Gerber still sells it. But have you tried Prunes? They ususally work better and believe it or not, have a much better taste than spinach!
They even have prune juice.
And water with Karo syrup works really good too. 1 tsp to 4 oz. of water.
I have 11 children and 19 grandchildren!

I am not sure if spinach works for constipation but, they have it at Walmart. I gave my children purple grape juice and that worked great and they loved the taste.

Gerber doesn't seem to be making just plain spinach baby food anymore, but they do have a type called "Garden Vegetable" which has spinach in it. My baby loves it. :)
