I know that he contributed a lot to this country but he already has a federal holiday along with half the schools and highways in the nation named after him. We all remember him. When will it ever be enough?

It won't be enough until his dream has been realized.

Unfortunately it hasn't and institutionalized racism is still rampant.

But I think the arguement most white people have is why they keep building monuments and naming streets and schools after a ni**ger. Is this the problem you have? If so I pity you and anyone else that shares that opinion.

We have Schools, highways, a Holiday, and a Monument of Lincoln-that's OK because Lincoln was President? Martin Luther King Jr. did a lot for our country and died for what he believed in.. if they want to make a monument after him, I say go for it.. the man died for his cause

What I hate is that the Black Community let someone like Jesse Jackson be the center stage on groundbreaking day. Every picture I saw had him front and center. I cannot think of a more useless person to have on center stage.

I would be interested to see how far MLK would have went had he not been gunned down. I think he would have contributed a lot to our society. (This coming from a white (fascists) conservative)

No, I think his contribution to society has been grossly overblown. It is a shame that great men like Washington, Lincoln, and other presidents of our country have to share a holiday when this rebel rouser gets to have one of his own. Now I am sad that he got gunned down, and he was a man with a cause, but he is not as great as everyone thinks he is. I lived in his time, and he was a mortal. If he hadn't been murdered, we wouldn't be having this conversation. He has been politically elevated to take care of the grassroots issues of racism and segregation. I am not a racist, but historically, this man is not as special as he is being made to be.

They should just get it over and rename the U.S to The U.S of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The same could be said of Ronald Reagan. It seems that when you find someone that inspires the best in all of us...You want to celebrate those people...I think it will be enough when noone wants to name anything else after him or have another statue...then it will be enough.

As long as we remember his words and try to follow his teachings of freedom that should be memorial enough.

You know, memories fade, times change. Don't let it occupy your brain time.

I hear they just awarded a medal of honor to a WWII veteran.

Life goes on, people have causes. You might have one someday.

It won't be enough for the libs. They can never be satisfied. So no matter what you agree to with them, they always want more.
