The knowledge of where the file is stored on the harddisk is removed. The file is physically there, and will remain there until it get written over my a random future write to the harddisk.

easy if u use email explorer or online email servers, there is usually a trash bin, after u delete it from the inbox or junk folder it goes there and if you delete them from there they don't exist anymore just disappear, but from the bin u can restore meaning u can put that email back in the inbox or any other folder that is if u deleted it by mistake

From the servers computer deleted, they may be recovered if the provider has data recovery. hear that they hold emails for legal reasons...
