i haaate that.... you try to decide if it's worth arguing the small chum change back or to just forget it. If it was my momma, she'd go back and give em hell! So in the end... do what your momma would do.

I agree w/ Angela, I am also a server/bartender for the last 15yrs, and I would never steal money from any customer, and you should let management know about this, because it could be a repeating pattern w/ a server, or it could just be an honest mistake. Let them decide. But here's a question for you.. How much was your total bill? Unless your total was about $12.00 your tip was way too low. The current gratuity rate is between 15-18% depending on where you are. 9 times out of ten most establishments require servers to share a portion of their tips w/ other team members in example.. at Applebee's we are required to share 3% of our TOTAL SALES.. NOT TOTAL TIPS w/ the house, and they divide it among hosts, bussers, cooks etc. So if I am only left a 10% tip I share 3% w/ the house and make a 7% tip, but still have to claim 10%, so in essence I've lost money. Please don't think that I believe a tip is a "given" I believe that servers need to earn their tip, but when they have earned it, please people, tip accordingly. PS. TIPS means.. TO INSURE PROMPT SERVICE

Hi -
yes ! it is the principle of the matter, I've been a bartender/server for 15yrs. If they entered the wrong amount into the computer ,that's one thing- people make mistakes. If a server did that on purpose that's stealing and you probably aren't the only person they did it to- it needs to be bought to the attention of management .( and with a that restaurant being a chain you'll probably get something complimentary at your next visit) If a server over charges every table an extra $2 - that could add up to a nice bit of change over the course of a busy shift- Make sure you bring a copy of your receipt for the meal and a print out of your bank records to have the difference documented.

if you only left a $2 tip at red lobster (assuming you had an entree to eat) you are cheap to begin with, and no its not worth trying to get $2 back. Its $2 who cares. If you just had drinks at the bar, consider it a charitable contribution because either you screwed the bartender and that extra $2 is what they deserved anyway, or you are making up for the millions of other people who screw over servers everyday.

You'd probably waste more time than what is worth. Just go to their web site and say what a horrible time you had and mention the extra charge and maybe you'll get a free meal. I went to a resturant and had a horrible time and even tho it was kinda fixed I still e mailed them to let them know and I got a gift certificate for 30 bucks!

Yes. It's a 2 minute call. And the principle.
How much does someone have to steal from you before you decide you're not going to be treated like a doormat?

Not worth the effort or time for only $2 dollars. Think of it as doing your good deed for the day cuz you know restaurant workers won't make much. Hopefully the lunch was good

Absolutely! obviously they have a server there that knows how to "fudge" the original check. Trust me, you are not the first guest to have this done. I have worked in the restaurant business and have seen this done. So....if you step up and point the finger, that person would not be able to do this to another person.

Really, $2 tip on a reb lobster bill - what did you have, water? They should have tripled the amount that you left. Try not being so cheap next time. (Remember - standard is 15%)

I would just shrug it off ... it's just 2 bucks .... just don't leave a tip next time ... if there is a next time. It's not worth the hassel of calling the card company to adjust.
