When I was young my mother would get mad at me and make me eat off the toilet. Is this a form of abuse? My therapist had never heard that one.

It is a serious question, I am 47 years old and still dealing with issues.

I still have contact with her because she lives in the same town as me. She is almost 80 and she sees nothing that she did was wrong. Luckily I have my husband and son to help me. I have been in and out of therapy for years and it all stems from the crazy woman that is my mother. That's why I hate the holidays.

If your therapist cannot tell you whether or not that is a form of child abuse, you need a new therapist.

I think you have answered this question yourself. You are 47 and still dealing with this issue, so I would say that if nothing else it was a form of mental abuse that has effected you to this day.

I have never heard of that one either. What was that supposed to accomplish. I have heard of making a child eat in another room if they can not behave but off the toilet? It sounds like bad parenting rather than abuse. If it was a pattern of other demeaning things than that is another story.

That is definitely abusive. She must have done more to you as well. Many of the things that she said, I did not know were abusive at the time. It was not until years into my adulthood that I learned what was abusive and how bad she really was.

My step-mother insulted me and degraded me every chance she got. She even went so far as to tell me what I remembered and did not remember, like she was in my head.

Take care,
Troy

That's disgusting, and yes, it's abuse. Your "mother"..and I begrudge using that name for her, must have been very sick or nasty, to degrade her child in such a way. Do you still have any contact? Good luck with the therapy and I wish you a very happy future.

If you had a plate I would say no. If she made you eat the food directly off the toilet seat... wow, very possibly. Its certainly abuse of power.

I think so unless you'll didn't have a flat surface to put a plate on and did you mean off or out of the toliet.

It is abuse because it's putting the child at risk by possible ingestion of germs such as ecoli, which can be deadly.

Yes it is! How unsanitary, we are suppose to protect our children not expose them to harm!
My heart goes out to you and all of the other abused children around the world. I pray that GOD watches over and protects them.
