Make them something. Make your own cards. Or take pictures of you and your friends and make a collage with them. It's a great way to use your double prints (if you use film), and cheap to print off prints from a digital camera. You can get paper and markers and supplies at a dollar store to help if you want to decorate them a bit. Write some memories, inside jokes for each person on their collage. A couple friends made me these, and I still have them!
Or throw a party and invite them all. Have snacks and pop and a cake. Just get everyone together, and have a good time.

Go to a one of those gift shops that sell outrageous items. Example: birthday cards with the huge lady on it, Neon swords, sexual games etc....
Spencers is a good one if you have one in your town.
anyways buy like a shot glass set that has funny phrases on them. If they don't drink then look around the store I'm sure you will find something. Gift cards to their favorite restaurant (dinner for 1) thats not so expensive, then again I don't know what you consider expensive.

ok, if you are good at baking ........... do it. i don't know anyone who doesn't like to receive homemade goodies, [not fruitcake], on any gift giving occasion. it can be as simple as a pineapple upside down cake or as fancy as you want to make it.
a group of our friends are tired of receiving gifts for themselves so i make a small donation to any one of the local charities in each of their names. ten or fifteen dollars usually works and they get a little card stating a donation was made in their honor. they all like the idea.
for those gardeners who have a yard, i buy a small shrub they can plant. for those that don't i buy a house plant.
for the few that like baking or cooking i buy a small bottle of good quality vanilla, or balsamic vinegar, or saffron, or something similar and they all appreciate that.
for the one friend who is an avid 'yardsale' kind of gal, i give her a change purse filled with change, [usually ten/twelve dollars], along with a homemade card telling her its for her next 'shopping spree' and for the dedicated reader i give them a gift card to the second hand bookshop that they frequent.
i really enjoy finding different ideas and unique gifts for our friends and family and they all look forward to receiving a gift from our home.
obviously there are decent bottles of wine reasonably priced, and you can always give candles, bubble bath, etc.
i've always thought the idea was to have fun with shopping.
go somewhere other than the local big box stores and you'll be surprised at what you can find!
good luck!

I had that problem with a friends husband... I bought him a stack of scratch off lottery tickets... at xmas time they do have ones with the strictly xmas looking... it was fun waiting as her scratched off and he had a $100.. winner... at some places they even have envelopes specifically for giving tham as gifts... I don't know... if you are looking for cheap and fun this is the way to go.

Chocolates are always nice. You can get good, but fairly cheap boxes of chocolate. What I like to do is make CDs with music they like and give it to them, because then it is something personal, but very cheap(cuz you only have to buy the rewritable CDs).
