Zicam and Cold-Eeze are the two major brands. Zicam offers several formulas (spray, lozenge, etc.) while Cold-Eeze is only available as a lozenge. They are available at Wal-Mart and Walgreens. They all work on the principal that cold viruses live in your nasal passages and throat, and that a zinc-based coating will inhibit their growth. Research supports this. In contrast, Airborne does not claim to shorten the length of colds and there is very little research on its effectiveness.

Any zinc product will work. There are zinc lozenges, Zicam nasal spray and now something called Cold MD etc. These are all zinc products. If you have trouble finding them ask the pharmacist and he will show you where they are. In the meantime you should be sure to take a good mulitvitamin and a good anitoxidant supplement to help boost your immune system so you DON'T keep getting colds. Much better to have a healthy immune system and not get colds then to suffer through one.

not sure about that commercial but I suggest airborne, works perfectly, does not taste great but if you use it, chances are you will never get a cold. My daughter always got colds and since she started using it a few years ago, she has never gotten a cold. there is a cheaper brand walborne at walgreens, works just as well

The commercial you are thinking of is for Zicam. I've never used it, but the commercial makes it sound like a good thing to try.

I don't know what med this is, but when I get sick I always use Theraflu brand medicated tea. The daytime severe cold is the best, it's for cough, congestion, sore throat, and stuff like that

The actual medicine is called Zicam. But Emergen-C is awesome! Our family swears by it and we use it everytime we feel something coming on.
