I answered a question regarding the possibility of Rudy Giuliani running for president. Several people posted that he does not have the experience to be president. So I am curious exactly what experience people believe is required to run the country.

How cynical and apathetic are we becoming!

It is the electorate that determines who will have the credentials.

If the system seems that money, name and power is all it takes, we have ourselves to blame!

How does he not have the experience to be President? He's been a Chief Executive, which certain other people from New York who aren't even natives who just moved there to win an election can't say.

Giuliani is running for President, and is the Republicans' best hope of keeping the White House, because he can get votes in Democratic areas. If there are pundits out there who don't consider him a viable candidate, they should be fired for not understanding the American political landscape.

Rudy may be good.

Given the false piety that runs amok in this country, you have to be Soooooooooooooo religous.Actual behavior, however is another game. You must however, pay heavy lip service in da name of da Lawd. The honest agnosticism most American crave is out of the question. Because of money,of course.

This is the problem most "liberals" have.False peity from the Right. And people wonder why this country is so screwed up. The most religous in talk tend to be most UNreligous in practice.

Just look at King George.empty rhetoric. You cannot successfully run a country on empty rhetoric.

Giuliani probably has as much experience as some of the state governors who will run. He is adept at working with the Federal government also. Of course he may not even have the votes to win his own state if the polls are correct. Most pundits do not consider him a viable candidate.

Rudy has more than the proper experience. New York did a total 180 in the right direction when he was mayor. And he didn't hide on September 11th, he went to the scene. If he has any lack of experience, it is in failure! i am a liberal democrat, and i would vote for republican Rudy in a second. maybe he just doesn't lie enough for most people's taste. God forbid we have a president who speaks the truth!

The only experience you need to hold the office is 35 years old and a natural citizen, beyond that it is what the individual voters think is needed. I thought Bush Jr. was a bit inexperienced just being a governor but that was just me.

In my mind they do need to have experience in managment. Yes, I think they need to be rich, I think rich people are less likely to be bribed (notice I said less likely). They need a back bone, we do not need as wimp in the oval office. And I like some history of elected service.

But everyone has different criteria.

The constitution requires presdents to be natural born citizen of the U.S. who are at least 35 years old. And have lived in the U.S. at least 14 years.

Local offices, or city or town offices. Need certicificate of canditate qualification. Need to be a regualr voter, no felonies, you cannot be mentally imcompetant.
Your social security number is part of your official voter record. It is required on the "Canidate Qualification form" to make it possible to identify your registration record in order to qualify you as a candidate.
Well have a Happy Thanksgiving!

most are bottom feeding lawyers. you have some that are ex military. you just have to be a good at lying cheating and stealing. back in the old days you just needed to be a common man now you have to have millions to even get on the ticket. i do love my country and served the united states for 20 years in the navy. yes i voted for bush . he was better than Kerry . so i picked the lesser of two evils.i think its time for America to have a common man for president. one thats smart and not a lawyer

Experience required is going to be different for everyone, everyone will have a different opinion on that.
The only thing you have to be is at least 35 and a citizen.
