My all-time favorite is Dolly Parton. I love several others of different types of music, but Dolly is my idol. I have been a fan for nearly 25 years. I have seen her in concert 4 times and she is awesome. Unfortunately, I have not been to Dollywood yet, because I cannot afford to travel. God knows I would love to go someday. Hopefully I can meet Dolly someday, too. That would be terrific!! :)

Thanks for all the replies to my question, but I want to be fair to everyone here. I don't know which answer to vote as the "best", so I will leave it up to others to pick the answer they like best.

I love Carrie Underwood, but Dolly would have to be the original Idol. I have never seen her in concert but would love to. However, I have been to Dollywood a couple of times, and it is great.

When I was much younger, we went to Nashville on vacation and toured the Country Music Hall of Fame. Dolly Parton was the featured artist at the time. I actually got to see her "Coat of Many Colors". It really exists, and it brought tears to my eyes.

My favorite singer is also Dolly Parton. She really knows how to perform and give it her all and still have fun doing it. She has a beautiful voice and lots of great songs.

My fave female singer is the lead singer of the Cranberries... :-)

Dolly Info:
My first step-dad, Calvin 'Clifford' Coffman, grew up and went to school with Dolly in Severville, TN. He was her first lead guitarist in her first band right after high school. When I was 9, in the late 70s, she came to our town to perform with Porter Wagner and I not only got to meet her, she made me a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich!!!!!! The sandwich was good ;-) I was young and the biggest part of meeting her was 'that sandwich'...lol I'm not sure how long it's been since Clifford has spoken with Dolly, as I haven't seen my first step-dad in a few years. I wish I knew how to get in touch with him, so I could at least get you connected one-way-or-another to meet or talk with Dolly. If I can think of any way at all, I'll email you, but don't get your hopes up... :-)
