God how I hate the winter - as soon as the evenings get darker so does my mood! I always lose that sparkle and vitality. The other day I thought to myself - it's only a bit colder and duller, get a grip! But it doesn't work does it? St John's Wort is very good for mild depression. And, like you say, having something to look forward to. Even plan next year's holiday abroad! Either that or take consolation in the thought that millions of others are feeling exactly the same way, you are definitely not alone! Roll on summer 2007!!

Yes........I have the cure!!!!!!!!!!..........Today I got an e-mail to say that eating 1 or 2 bananas every day assists in many different illnesses/syndromes. You have SAD....seasonal adjustment disorder.... and apparently a banana contains tryptophan, a natural mood enhancer, and one a day will give you a feeling of well being. How true this is I do not know for sure but its easy enough to try and healty too.......good luck !!

If you are suffering from the condition abbreviated to S.A.D. you can only try to get as much exposure to light and sunshine as you can. A sunshine holiday would be a great tonic, but perhaps unfeasible practically. Try to get out as much as you can at the week-ends, meet friends, have a pub lunch, play football, go for walks with someone you enjoy talking to. Don't stay indoors and mope, it does not help.

Find a hobby you like to do. Try some community college classes. Get out to a coffee house during an open mic night. Try to just get out of the house for a 20min walk. Last--try an light bulb that mimics sun-light(GE $2.49)

Hobbies help pass the time. I can spend hours working on my train table, though its not cheap. So far I have about $3,000.00 invested. If hobbies aren't your thing you might try doing some of those projects needing done around the house....the ones it was too nice outside last summer to stay indoors and do.

Get out into what sunshine you can find! Go hiking on Christmas!
You don't have to buy into it all if you don't want to! Create a new tradition for you! Walk to the beat of a different drumer!

I know how you feel. Just try to get out as much as you can and don't stay cooped up around the house because of the weather. Try to get as much daylight as you can. I have found the Light boxex can also be helpful. Like you, I get very depressed if I don't get enough natural daylight.
