Im doing a project to evaluate the current film rating system and how it was devised. I need help on figuring out how movie critics come up with rating reviews.

Critics don't give the movie the MPAA rating. It is done by a board selected by MPAA. Follow the link below to the MPAA web site and you can find all you need.

The rating system in the US was developed in 1968 by the Motion Picture Association of America. The first ratings were G, M, R, and X. It has been revised a few times since.

check out the movie "This Film is Not Yet Rated", it's about the american rating system and the MPAA. it's a feature-length documentary on the topic and looks very interesting.

also check out wikipedia's MPAA page and see what you can find.
