Morton's Steakhouse (believe it or not)
1. our waitress took our order for appetizers. they came out and we ate them, but she never came back to take our order for entrees.
2. we ordered a bottle of 2002 pine ridge cabernet ($65 at a store, $120 at the restaurant), when the wine came out, they tried to give me a bottle of 2003 pine ridge cabernet ($35 at a store, apprx $75 at a restaurant). when i mentioned that the bottle was not a 2002, the wine steward said, "oh, the 2003 is waaaaaay better." i had no choice but to show off my knowledge of wine to embarrass him. i made another selection which he got right.
3. after 1 hour, i complained to the manager because our waitress still had not returned to take our order. the waitress saw that i was talking to the manager and quickly returned to my table to take my order, but i was already in the middle of complaining at the front desk.
resolution: the manager convinced me to stay and that he'd make it right. so here's what happened...
1. the manager pulled my waitress aside and gave her the ***-chewing of her life.
2. the manager brought out two free side dishes and later bought us an after-dinner drink. johnny walker blue label ($60 a shot at restaurant prices)
3. the wine steward thought that i made the complaint against him and he came by apologizing profusely. he later bought us an after-dinner drink. more johnny walker blue label.
so all was rectified right? NO....
after it was all said and done, our original waitress came back to apologize. she brought out a dessert and told us that she would pay for it to make up for the lousy service.
when the check came, i was charged for that dessert!

my problem was with other guests. I took my gf out for our anniversary, and it was a really nice restaurant, $40 a plate per person approximate, not including drinks. This is the kind of place you DON'T BRING KIDS. Needless to say a family walked in and demanded to be served. Management warned them they they did not have highchairs, kids menu's,etc. no accomodations for kids. This was a fine dining restaurant. Unfortunantly they were seated anyway and they kids were brats, loud and obnoxious. The parents were lazy and did not care. They ruined our evening, and the evening's of the other couples. The restaurant ended up kicking them out. MY evening was ruined by the lack of consideration of other guests, not a restaurant.

My sister got married. I took her four kids (blended family) and kept them for a week. I had three kids, too. All seven of the kids were blondish, looked alike, and were in a stairstep height situation at the time they were aged 1 to 10) They looked like they could be biologically brother and sisters.
I took them to Pizza Hut the first night after the wedding. Some of the kids were missing their parents and we were trying to cheer them up. Besides the stares from others all was going well, until all at once the one year old threw his bottle clear down the table, hitting another kid in the head and they both started to cry. No one told me that one quiet little fella was allergic to cheese. He threw up all over the table. As I was trying to clean up another kid knocked over his drink and his sister's all over the table. The two crying about the bottle were continuing to scream and then one of the older boys ran to the bathroom crying because he missed his dad. :( And the three year old wet her pants. :(
I tried to clean up the mess as best I could. I left a tip as big as the bill and promised the waiter that we would never come back with all the kids again.
We still talk about that. We can laugh about it now! I didn't take the kids inside a restuarant again. We did ALOT of take out and call in for food that week!

i went to an all you can eat place for coffe with a boss of mine a few years ago. there was a couple (mixed - like that even mattered to us? no) with their child sitting on the other side of the restaurant. we were the only people in the place.
the father gets up and wipes his nose with his hand then puts his hand into the soup (at the line where all the food is) . tells the waitress the soup is cold (it was a COLD SOUP!). he proceeds to take his hand and sift through ALL the food on the line. his kid is now putting his face into the tea pitcher (20 feet or so from the table) and spitting into it.
we say something to the mother and she starts screaming " it's because i married a *** ger isn't it? you don't like us because he's a *** ger isn't it? i can F CK who i want! it's none of your business"
needless to say, the police showed up and hauled them off and the social services came for the kid.

CoCo Joe's, at St. Thomas Virgin Islands. It took an hour an a half to get our meal (a hamburger and nachos) and then chase around the waitress to get the check. Unbelievable! It almost caused us to miss our boat excursion that we had already paid for.
