Abraham Lincoln. He was personally humble, but in terms of providing the nation what it needed--tenacious leadership in very bad times--he was magnificent. And he had a superb sense of humor, something our lads and lasses in Washington could stand to have today. He was pretty much the ideal person to lead a nation in trouble, out of trouble. We could certainly use someone like that today.
